Tonight brings with the official kick-off of Ciara‘s hotly anticipated ‘Jackie Tour.’
Surprisingly, despite stage blazing being the singer’s trademark, the trek – launched in support of her new album ‘Jackie’ – is the first she’s embarked on in over six years.
That said, Ms. Harris has more than kept us entertained over this period, with epic performances on some of music’s biggest platforms.
Journey with us as we revisit Ciara’s Top 5 Performances…
5) Ride (Live On The Mo’Nique Show)
Despite banning the racy video for ‘Ride,’ BET hold the honor of airing its only televised performance on ‘The Mo’Nique Show’ in 2010. And oh did she slay!
4) Gimme Dat (Live On The George Lopez Show)
As CiCi has said herself, the ‘Basic Instinct’ era defined disaster – thanks to label drama (and, arguably, the album itself – we’re looking at you, The-Dream). However, what didn’t falter was the performer’s ability to ignite the stage. Backed by a troop of dancers, she showcased that and then some during this explosive 2010 showing which re-created the ‘Gimme Dat’ video and infused shades of Janet Jackson’s ‘Rhythm Nation.’
3) Love, Sex, Magic (Live On Ellen)
Sometimes the absence of a collaborator can negatively impact a live performance. Yet, in Ciara’s case, it presents another opportunity to show up and show out. Such was the case when she performed the Justin Timberlake assisted cut solo on the ‘Ellen’ show in 2009. Borrowing the seductiveness of the song’s video, Super Ci switched things up by pairing the showgirl theme with James Brown esque tenacity. The result? An electrifying performance!
2) Take You Down (With Chris Brown At BET Awards 2008)
Despite only appearing at the tail end of Chris Brown’s ‘Take You Down’ performance, CiCi made her presence more than felt with an epic dance routine with C. Breezy. A high-point for both of their careers.
1) I’m Out / Body Party (BET Awards 2013)
For us, Ciara’s 2013 showing at the BET Awards 2013 is the perfect encapsulation of everything we love about her. The energy, the choreography, the seductiveness, the sass, and the precision. Six minutes of undeniable slayage!

Amazing list. I’ve seen Ciara once live (opening up for Fatney on her Till The Playback Ends Tour) and she was amazing. I’m in the middle of finals so I couldn’t see her on this leg, but I plan to go see Cici on her second leg with Molly. It should be a lot of fun.

Ciara an entertainer and performer. You can’t take that from her. I guarantee you she will out performe your favorite.
She’s a dancer, that’s it. As in the words of Aaliyah, “an entertainer is a person that can do it all.”
Do you apply the same standards to Janet Jackson who was hardly the best singer and a chronic lip syncer but is one of the most legendary performers to ever set foot on a stage? Aaliyah’s voice did carry more weight than both Ciara and Janet but she too wasn’t the best live vocalist. I love all three women so this isn’t to be shady. You on the other hand, you’re just a try hard.
If you learn to read and comprehend, you’ll see that I gave the definition of an entertainer. Janet may have a light voice, but I seen her do ballads and slow jams singing LIVE and she does a good job at it. Plus she’s a dancer and actress. Same with Aaliyah, another singer, dancer actress, and one of the few entertainers that could sing and dance at the same time. Ciara can’t hold a simple note, I’m sorry she can’t.

Even if you compare her to Janet or even Britney, the later two can (or could in Britany case) give a powerful performance with different styles and themes. This is MY opinion, but if we do a top 5 of all these women I named, Janet, Aaliyah and Britney top 5 would have more and different styles of dancing, theme and somewhat diff vibes. With Ciara, looking at this top 5, or even her top 10, all you get is high energy, drunk moves and hard dancing. Her problem is she has zero range, vocally and dance wise. You either get high energy dances or a stripper move. That’s it and that’s why I said she’s just a dance and I’ll add just a dancer with very little range.

Despite commercial success eluding her, Ciara is definitely one of the best performers of her generation. NO FEMALE in popular music moves like her and her athleticism is pretty much on par with her male dance contemporaries. She may not be the best singer (she’s shown vast improvement over the years though) but she makes up for it with her charismatic stage presence and hot dance moves. I disagree with her performance of Get Up at SYTYCD being an honourable mention. Everything was just perfect in that performance and it means so much to me because she was at the height of her career then. Her MJ tribute/Got Me Good at VH1 Divas was great as well. All in all, I wish Ciara the best of luck with her new tour.

I almost forgot about her “Like a Boy” performance on Dancing with the Stars. She was out of breath for the most part and missed about half of the lyrics, but the choreo was still on point. The performance was so powerful and inspiring. In my opinion, it showed how girls stick together through the toughest times with the really close choreo.
Yup, that style dancing “closeness of women dancing” came from her. Well, I take that back (Janet Jackson). But Ciara brought it back and put her swagger on it and once she did it, now everyone else is doing it. lol . I won’t say any names.
Listen, I WAS a Ciara fan from the jump. As time passed, she lost me. She’s gotten beyond repetitive & beyond BASIC. Now before these new age kids come at me; take that blindfold off & look at it for what it is. She’s wack and it’s that simple. She’s never been a good singer, her material has sucked since 2010 (to say the least), she doesn’t reinvent herself, she lacks originality and her fake persona during interviews doesn’t convince ANYONE besides the C-Squad.
